What happens when a cruise ship employee is injured on the job?

Video Transcription:

A cruise ship employee is covered under whats known as the Jones Act, which provides a cause of action for negligence against the employer. In addition to the Jones Act, a crew member aboard a ship, also has common law causes of action known as unseaworthiness and maintenance and cure. The unseaworthiness claim is against the ship owner for not providing a safe vessel and maintenance and cure provides a daily living allowance as well as medical care to the crew member.
