What are unearned wages?

Video Transcription:

Unearned wages are part of your maintenance insurer plan. Unearned wages are owed typically to the end of voyage or end of contract whichever is longer. The cruise lines have been very successful in limiting the unearned wages to the actual voyage of the crew member is on, be it a week, 10 days, two weeks, four days, whatever it happens to be.

However, some cruise lines have, and some employers have, collective bargaining agreement which set forth a specific unearned wage period up to a 120 or 180 days. Each case is different and we would have to look at your particular circumstances in order to answer that question for you.
